WHAT IS SLEEKING?

Sleeking is an exciting new technology from GMP where foiling and many other effects can be achieved digitally and in-house, rather than the traditional expensive block foiling.

It also uniquely eliminates the need for speciality UV finishing methods that are normally needed to create diverse effects and does not need laminating first.

HOW DOES SLEEKING W ORK?

Creating metallic effects used to be done by hand, but now it can easily be done digitally with one laminator and your own digital printer. Combining the array of effects and the use of laminating into just one laminator greatly reduces the cost massively. Not only that, but the beauty of Sleeking™ is the personalisation.

With typical block foiling, even the concept of personalising was an expensive feat. Now with digital foiling, you can easily add variable data to your design which gives it that extra edge to stand out in the crowd.

TYPES OF SLEEKING

Digital foil Sleeking:

A quicker and less expensive option to the traditional foil blocking process, this new solution offers you a range of finishes to create something truly special. Choose from metallic colours including Gold, Silver, Copper, Pink, Blue & Red as well as monochrome finishes in White or Black. With shimmering highlights, digital foiling can spark excitement and bring a static design to life using just your digital printer and a GMP laminator.

To get the best results when using digital Sleeking foils in your design you ideally need to keep things simple with crisp black and white line art. Designs with intricate patterns or tight letter spacing can be achieved but the simpler the design the better the end result. You can achieve a truly high-end professional print when you use smooth paper stocks and incorporate the added luxury of Silk Touch lamination to your design.

Holographic Sleeking:

This type of Sleeking has a “rainbow” optical effect. When light shines upon the foil, it reflects a rainbow of colours. Not only that, but we have a range of films that have a holographic pattern in them, such as sparkles, crystal shards, etc.

Overprinting:

The colours can now be endless! Overprinting is an exciting new technique where all you need to do is foil your artwork in silver and then print on top. The print on top will transform the silver into various different colours.

Variable Data Foiling (VDF):

The perfect solution for both short and long run variable data digital foiling. A simple way to make an impact and print that resonates with the customer. The printing process allows the digital transfer Sleeking film to bond with the ink, so where you can digitally print – you can Sleek. Making your print feel special and unique.

Invites, cards, business cards, flyers, envelopes and even book covers. As one of the most profitable processes to add personalisation to your print, it can be achieved quickly at a fraction of the cost.

Spot Sleeking:

Ideal for the projects that require something that will ‘pop’ out of the page. GMP sleeking allows you to add spot gloss, matt or holographic film, providing an affordable option to increase perceived value of your print.

Spot sleeking is used to highlight a feature within your print or even to create a glossed pattern or design. The technique supplied by GMP is very similar to traditional spot UV methods but with less restriction, shorter lead times and all at a dramatically lower cost.

CREATING ARTWORK FOR SLEEKING
Artwork needs to be created in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign or another program that creates vector based output files (generally PDFs or EPS files).
