Gardiner Appoints New European Sales Team – Setting Sights On Raising Profile Throughout EMEA

The Gardiner Graphics Group appoint a new European sales team, setting their sights firmly on raising profile of their manufactured products, including that of new development Touchshield™ , throughout EMEA territories.

Touchshield™ is the latest development from the Gardiner Graphics Group. A unique range of clear, water-marked anti-microbial self-adhesive protective films designed to slow the spread of bacteria and viruses. The protective film, manufactured in the UK at their Banbury facility recently obtained the highly esteemed ISO 21702, reaching efficacies of up to 93.41% against viral activity.

CEO Tom Powell commented “we truly believe that our new developments can support all businesses in all sectors. I am delighted to have our new team aboard and look forward to seeing them fly the flag for our products”.

New appointment Daniel Coelho, Sales Manager for EMEA said of the new venture “I am very happy to join this fantastic team, Gardiner Graphics has been consolidating its position in the English market in recent years and is now looking to expand its presence in the EMEA market and it is precisely this effort that I join to achieve the success. We are going through a delicate moment, but Gardiner Graphics was able to reinvent itself by investing in the development of absolutely differentiating products such as TouchShield” . Daniel brings with him over 10 years’ experience within large format, including strategic product sales positions within Roland DG. With Gardiner having recently been appointed EMEA media manufacturer for Roland DG, Coelho also hopes to help further cement the company’s offering to the Roland DG network.

Joining Daniel and EMEA Sales Director Matt Littler is Zbigniew Adamski, Sales Manager responsible for Eastern European Territories. Zbigniew’s adventure in print includes 14 years with Antalis Poland as Sales Director for their Visual Communications sector. The new challenge with GGS is one that he is elated to be part of and is looking forward to working with the team in advancing awareness of their unique products and services throughout Eastern Europe.

The Gardiner Group also welcome Laura Ashton-Smith recently appointed within Sales Development among their established UK team, to further support product awareness and distribution channels.

Gardiner Graphics Group is recognised as a #GREATinspiration as part of the Great Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign.

The Great Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign launches #GREATinspiration, an initiative designed to shine light on those who have done extraordinary things during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The GREAT Inspirations celebrates businesses that continued to operate for their customers, support their employees and innovativley adapt to a new way of business.

In March 2020, with a natural downturn in activity within their sector, Gardiner Graphics Group re-purposed its materials and machinery into the manufacturing of PPE visors.

CEO Tom Powell commented “ with such a vast stock of PET right here in the UK and the machinery suited to the job, we recognised the increasing demand for PPE items and wanted to help and wanted to make sure that our Portsmouth manufacturing facility kept moving. To have all the materials and equipment to re-purpose into a much-needed item seemed the right thing to do.”

The team quickly started producing up to 20k single use emergency visors per day distributing daily to key workers in a range of sectors. Alongside visor production, the company working tirelessly to deliver over 200 tonnes of recyclable PET in reel and sheet format to other UK businesses looking to apply their own PPE designs, ensuring that other business alike could keep working and keep delivering much needed PPE items.

Roland DG EMEA Announce Integration Partnership With Media Experts Gardiner Graphics Supplies Europe (GGSEU)

GGSEU, a leading supplier of graphic materials within the UK, has been enlisted to manage and further develop a new and progressive Roland DG media programme, proudly serving Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The UK firm, having undertaken substantial investment in the last 2 years to increase its manufacturing capabilities, comes with over 35 years’ experience within product R&D and media distribution within the wide format sector.

The partnership has been initiated to further provide a complete and saleable solution in which the Roland DG machines and media work harmoniously for optimised end-results.

“We are all very excited to work with this very agile and professional organisation” enthuses Paul Willems, Head of Business Development & Product Management for Roland DG. “We have been offering Roland branded media for many years and it has been a highly successful program but now we are ready to take this to the next level”.

GGSEU CEO Tom Powell added, “we are overjoyed to have the incredible opportunity to work with an exceptional brand such as Roland DG. Their products are unparalleled within their field and we shall be providing no less with our media programme”.

Having worked closely with the GGSEU team ahead of the announcement, Svenja Schulz, Product Manager for Roland DG Central Europe praised the collaboration thus far. “In the preparation to this announcement they’ve already shown great expertise, high motivation and the clear drive to make this cooperation a success. I am convinced that Gardiners is the right partner for Roland DG and that they will excel at supporting authorised Roland dealers and customers”.

Matt Littler, EMEA Sales Director of the UK firm, further explained, “we are exceptionally excited to be working with Roland DG and to see the media range evolve. Our goal is to support Roland dealers in further strengthening their routes to market with media perfectly suited to their needs”.

Prior to a full portfolio launch in the coming months, the partners announce the collaboration today with a series of introductory showcase products, designed specifically for short to medium term floor and wall applications. GGSEU Managing Director Will Duggins added, “with so many printers turning their hand to creating safe spaces and conveying important social distancing guidelines it was clear that was where we had to start. It's all about supporting Roland DG’s printers and dealers in getting back to business with the right media and the right solutions”.

Despite the ‘new normal’ way of working and increased travel restrictions in recent months, the project maintained its momentum with many discussions taking place via video conferencing methods. The latest meet can be viewed here, in which the project is celebrated ahead of its public announcement.

Gardiner Graphics Group, the UK’s largest independent conversion facility within the lamination and print industry, having recently re-purposed its resources into the manufacturing of PPE takes further steps to meet demand with a "DIY" kit.

Managing Director Will Duggins commented of the move “It truly has been a momentous two weeks for the Gardiner Graphics Group with all available resource moving over to the preparation and assembly of our emergency PPE visors. The commitment and hard-work from the team has been astounding in such a critical time of need”

Gardiner Graphics Group are manufacturing up to 20’000 units per day along with over 5 tonnes of prepared PET sheets to other manufacturers applying their own designs.

The latest move from the Gardiner Graphics Group sees the offering of a DIY visor kit, delivered as a pack of components where the key worker can assemble their visor upon delivery within moments. The DIY kit reduces production time by 60%, resulting in greater volumes of the personal protection equipment reaching key environments in good time.

Will Duggins went on to explain “we are confident now that with the complete visors, the prepared flat-sheets and now this DIY kit - we have something for everyone. There really is no reason for any key worker to feel vulnerable or at risk. We have the stock, we have the solutions, we have the capacity to meet the demand".

How to keep your printed graphics clean without damaging them? It’s in the science.

More than ever we are being asked the question “how can I keep my printed graphics clean and germ-free without damaging them?”

We wanted to put together some handy tips so that all those out there in key environments know how to best clean down their laminated book covers, menus, printed signs and retail POS whilst maintaining their quality and purpose.

What is your laminate or printed graphic made from?

To know the best way to disinfect your laminated sign, menu, book or POS you must first understand what it is made from.

Different plastics react differently, and often negatively to certain types of disinfectant. If you aren’t sure, take a look at our handy product downloads or contact one of the team who will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

What types of disinfectant should I use ?

To effectively sanitize a laminated item we would always recommend a type of liquid disinfectant that is best suited to your substrate.

Remember - check the label carefully and always follow manufacturers application instructions. Always wear gloves.

Disinfecting PET (Polyester) based films?

You are in luck. PET is one of the most robust plastic substrates to sanitize as its resilient structure can withstand any of the listed recommended liquid disinfectants. Still, always follow the instructions on the label and watch out for our handy tips at the end of the blog.

Disinfecting PVC films?

For PVC, try to look out for a glycerine or hydrogen peroxide based agent to get the best results. Whilst you can use isopropyl effectively, over time and with a deep clean, this will start to dissolve the plasticizers within the PVC.

Disinfecting PP (Polypropylene films)?

If your print or laminate is made from polypropylene, you must try to avoid hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning agents that will damage your graphic. Stick to a commonly found isopropyl product or glycerin if you have it available.

For everyday cleaning, our laminates and print media can be wiped using a mild detergent and clean water (avoid soaps containing wax, oil or lotions). Always follow the handy tips to avoid scratches or damage.

Being an experienced professional within the large format print sector you will have no doubt heard these terminologies many, many times before now. These phrases refer to a product used within the conventional thermal laminating process for creating exhibition graphics – the traditional ‘paper sandwich’ as it is known to many within the industry.

This tried and tested method is a process of printing high-quality inkjet images to paper, hot laminating the paper with a metallised ‘stop-light’ backing film to the reverse and your choice of protective film on the front, most commonly a sand textured crystal polyester for excellent endurance and light diffusion in high traffic environments.

Once laminated, voila! You have created high-end print that is ready for roller banners, pop-up displays and other exhibition systems.

There are few manufacturers of these products remaining in the global market due to the popular change in application of direct print to substrate in recent years. That said, GGSEU are proud to have been offering these established products to the UK and EU markets for nearly 20 years.

Gardiner Graphics Supplies Europe (GGS EU), the UK’s largest independent conversion facility in the lamination and print industry, announce a unique 100% PVC-free wide format print media for Latex and UV printing.

Having brought wide format print media manufacturing in-house with a newly installed coating line, GGS EU announce their first nod to sustainable products with WP300 PP. This new 100% PVC-free media has been designed with wall applications in mind but also provides the perfect solution for external signage and industrial label applications.

Vinyl is a fantastic, hard-wearing, long-lasting material for creating signs and graphics. There are three types of display vinyl: monomeric, polymeric and cast.

All three are polyvinyl chloride – the vinyl we know as PVC – and contain similar ingredients, but the quality of those ingredients and how they are created make all the difference.

Just like pizza. Do you like your pizza base to be thin, doughy, or stuffed crust? As for possible toppings, are you a plain Margherita person or meat feast piled high with extras?

Just like finding your perfect pizza, knowing which PVC you need for your project is key to getting the results your customers will love.

Monomeric film

This is one of the cheapest types of PVC on the market, with the lowest cost of ingredients. Monomeric film is stretched or rolled out like pizza dough, to make it thin and printable. This process is known as calendering. All PVC that has been calendered holds the memory of its pre-stretched shape. It really wants to shrink back to its original size, and to stop that happening a cocktail of chemicals is added to its formulation. Most monomeric PVC will last around three years, so for short-term graphics, it is a cost-effective choice.

Polymeric film

This is monomeric film’s more expensive sibling. Although polymeric film is made from similar raw materials and undergoes the same calendering process as monomeric film, it is made from higher quality ingredients. This means it can look great for longer, often around five to seven years. Not only does it live longer, but it can also be used on a wider variety of surfaces. Polymeric film can even be used on surfaces that are not flat or regular, opening up greater project possibilities.

Takeaway tip – Both monomeric and polymeric PVC media are excellent choices for a range of applications, such as pop-up displays, short-term exhibition graphics and Point of Sale promotions.

Cast

Just like a pizza, cast PVC starts with the same raw materials as monomeric and polymeric films. It is what happens next that makes it different.

The highest quality ingredients available are used to manufacture cast. Also, during the production process cast is not calendered. Instead, the PVC is poured into a casting tray so that it is ‘cooked’ flat from the beginning. This means that cast PVC does not want to shrink back to its original size; it is created the shape and size of the container into which it is poured.

This means that there is far greater flexibility for applications when using cast. It can be formed or wrapped into a multitude of different shapes, and because it doesn’t want to shrink back, it will last longer, often more than seven years.

This durable product is perfect for vehicle wrapping or other high-end applications designed to last.

Takeaway tip – Did you know that all types of PVC vinyl are available in gloss and matt finishes and with both white and clear face films? There are so many options for you to create your perfect project.
